Children born with a silver spoon in their mouth should dine at Claridge’s, says Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe is in London for Vogue Fest, and is staying at Claridge’s, natch. She’s got her little one-year-old boy Skyler in tow (as always) – and Tweeted a pic of the cutlery Claridge’s gave him to use – ultra-cute, mini silverware stamped with little bears. We weren’t sure it was possible to love Claridge’s any more (they had a LANVIN Christmas tree, for goodness sake) – but oops, now we do.

This is the child that has a £70k walk-in wardrobe, including a £1,200 Hermes cashmere blankets to do poops on, and £1,000 Gucci boots he will probably never wear. You’d think that silver baby cutlery at Claridge’s wouldn’t even register on the Zoe-radar – so it’s quite cute that Rachel Zoe felt moved enough by the knife and fork to take a snap and blog it… Just shows some things never get old.

She is a stylist, so of course we expect Rachel Zoe to rock the best outfits herself (if she didn’t who would hire her?). Sometimes, in our opinion, she gets it wrong (not into those creased, baggy boilersuits she is fond of). But last night at the Vogue Festival cocktail party at the Royal Geographical Society, she rocked it. Tuxedo detailing, cummerbund, split black skirt dazzling with jet jewels… Her power platforms and white yeti put us in the mind of a young Cruella de Vil, but we’ll forgive her that minor detail. Adore, adore adore.

It’s all from her own collection, she says, though as the pieces themselves absent from the Spring/Summer lookbook, they are probably from A/W. But the essence of this look is there – and if the lookbook is anything to go by, it’s going to be awesome. Having not been enamoured with the early collections (too much brown; handkerchief hems; unflattering drapey jersey that only skinny people can wear but for some reason is mostly bought by the larger lady…), all is now forgiven, and this season’s is her best yet. She’s taken it up a notch with more structure, long, languid lines and lots of luxe detailing.

The devil is in the detail…

Not usually a fan of the huge concealed platform, but on this occasion we will let the Zoe-meister off cos she is rocking them

Packing light? What does that mean? Asks Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe cracks us up. The stylist posted an image of her packed bags for Fashion Week. We counted six suitcases.

While we weigh our measly wheelie on the scales at home to avoid shame-faced rummaging on the airport floor, Zoe explained her hoard was only shipment one of two…

Talk about excess baggage…

We wonder if her son’s in there too..

This is how Rachel Zoe rolls

This is how Rachel Zoe rolls

There are taxis. There are chauffeur-driven cars. And then there are Chanelmobiles. The latter is how Rachel Zoe rolls.

She has just got back from hols in St Barts where she lounged around in the sunshine with Marc Jacobs, and no sooner does she get back to the U.S., Karl sends a car to pick her up. This woman is seriously connected.

Where did it take her is what Ff wants to know. And also, can she take us
next time?
