Kate and the Queen took a trip to Leicester together today to carry out some royal shenanigans or other – and both pulled out all the sartorial stops.
One does love a hat, doesn't one?
Kate looked chic and uber-stylish in a blue LK Bennett dress with a belted peplum jacket over the top (Jude jacket, £395; Davina dress, £225), while Queenie wore a fabulously fuchsia dress and coat designed by her endlessly talented seamstress, Angela Kelly.
Both topped off their looks with hot hot hot headgear: Kate, a neat black retro-style number by one of her favourite milliners, James Lock, and the Queen, a sensational black and fuchsia creation, again by Angela Kelly.
She wore it well: On Kate, this LK Bennett outfit was better than the sum of its parts
Who rocked their look best? We love the way Kate has made this high street dress look designer – and she is the home counties girl who outshone Hollywood’s finest. But her glowing granny-in-law might just have the edge… What do you think?
PS: Kate’s not the first power wife to have chosen the LK Bennett Davina for an engagement. Ed Milliband’s wife Justine wore a dark purple version for the Labour Party conference last September. Kate scoops this one for sure, thanks to her envy-making legs – and the fact she wore the matching jacket, turning bla into hurrah.
Spot the difference: Kate wearing the LK Bennett 'Davina' dress today, and Justine Milliband wearing hers last year
