Here’s Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell being all topless and seductive for the cover of Interview magazine Russia.

Pretty impressive that these two have been getting undressed for the cameras for like a decade.

We never get bored, they never get bored….

Amazing in this day and age where nothing seems to last more than a viral minute.

Some beauty really is timeless.

Making of a supermodel: Kate Moss’s first ever photoshoot pics sell at auction for £5,700

She was 14, and was yet to take part in that Corinne Day photoshoot on the beach that would mark the beginning of her stratospheric rise to fame.

But even before that fateful day with Day (which Kate, who was asked to pose topless, recently confessed she cried her way through), she sat for some test shots in 1988 with snapper David Ross.

Innocent wide-eyed Mossy

A fresh-faced and wide-eyed Mossy – that’s worth £1,200 of anyone’s dosh

Of herself at that time, Kate has said in the New York Post: ‘I wasn’t the prettiest girl in class. No breasts, short legs, gangly teeth. I didn’t think I was model material, that’s for sure’ – clearly  though, Storm boss Sarah Doukas, who scouted her earlier that year and got Ross to take the shots, spotted the Moss magic that has gone on to earn the model an estimated £50m (we can see it too, Mossmeister.

The black and whites went under the hammer at Bloomsbury auction house yesterday –  the first time Ross had ever printed and sold any of the set – and the collection of three pics sold for £5,700 in total – an absolute bargain for an original print of Mossy, non?

She’s said she hates early photographs of herself – and while our head says ‘boo hoo, use one of your 5 million £10 notes to wipe your tears away’, a tiny shred of heart goes out to her – the thought of snaps of our dorky 14-year-old selves (which would DEFINITELY not fetch a grand at auction) being beamed being posted round the world brings us out in hives…

Kate has said she hates early pics of herself - and though we think she looks awesome, a shot of our 14-year-old self going global would be.... mortifying

ROSS SAYS:

‘Yes it’s true these pictures I produced were the first test shots of Kate Moss after Sarah Doukas discovered her on the way back from holiday in JFK. Kate landed on my doorstep fresh up from Croydon during her half term break on October 26th 1988.

‘Today I am an actor, and passionate about my craft but I spent the late 80’s / early 90s printing images and taking photographs. In fact, since my teens I worked more for than 20 years professionally and I’m born of a family of photographers and artists going back to the 1930s in Dublin, Ireland.  I still reserve the same passion for portraiture.

‘I have made portraits of a many actors and performers as well as models and I am addicted to exploring their character and to bringing out the best in them. It’s the search for the truth that inspires me.

‘When I met Kate and photographed her all those years ago, there was a unique sparkle to her which was bound to evolve into something special, although I had no idea how much at the time. I was very young myself and I just wanted to do my best for Sarah, her agent.

‘Today, these pictures are very special as they portray her at the absolute threshold of her life changing forever. They are very special to me as they mark unique moments in time and history and this is the first time I have ever printed them to present to the world.

‘I have the utmost respect and admiration for Kate and her wonderful success which is incredibly well deserved, while she has had to work hard from such a young age and learn very quickly. She has survived an incredible run of pressure to perform almost without relent. She has climbed to the top of her profession overcoming every obstacle.

‘When I met Kate and photographed her all those years ago there was a unique sparkle to her which was bound to evolve into something special, although I had no idea how much at the time’

‘Nobody can say she has had it easy that’s for sure and I can guarantee you it takes a certain character and stamina to endure what she has had to take on. As an actor I appreciate her artistry. Few people realise the depth of the role of a model and I find this very disappointing. The office dreamers and critiques have no idea what is expected of a professional artiste or model with no complaint and as far as I’m aware Kate has never complained.

‘I would absolutely love to meet Kate again. I would feel quite privileged in fact. Wow, just the thought of being able to ask her how much she remembers of our meeting and her first experience and what she remembers of her thinking at the time would be fascinating! To hear and understand from Kate herself, as opposed to the books and press we have both contributed to, voluntarily or not, and heard through, whether we’ve looked or not – to listen to the true extent of her journey from where she sat with me all those years ago, would be very special indeed.’

Model retrospective: The changing face of Kate Moss (or the ultimate coffee table book)

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

Her motto in life has always been ‘never complain, never explain’ but lately it seems Kate Moss is feeling very chatty.

After two decades of keeping relatively schtum about her private life, Kate is lifting the lid on life, love and everything.

First came tell-all Vanity Fair interview and now in her new photo-biography, the model spills yet more beans in a private conversation with her best friend and colleague Jess Hallett.

There is also said to be a documentary in the works following Kate as she promotes the new book.

Plus, it loads of pretty pictures and you can choose from eight different covers – on that basis, we have already ordered our copy from Amazon.

Kate: The Kate Moss book is edited by Fabien Baron with Jess Hallett and Jefferson Hack and is published by Rizzoli at £50

Get the new must-have rabbit (batteries not required…)

Ff came across the most adorable outfit for our iPhone 5 at the My-Wardrobe press day this week.

And (quel coincidence) at the same time, Kate Moss was spotted out and about in London chatting on her very own bunny.

The  Rabito case even comes with detachable furry tail, for your pleasure.

It may not be that rampant a rabbit – but we’re sold.

‘She was untarnished’: Kate Moss is the portrait of innocence in images of her first ever sitting

Posted on by M in Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

It’s not like we’re ever short of  a Kate Moss picture.

And yet, the talent of the model is her ability to make each image look fresh time and time again – even when it’s 24-years-old.

The latest set of portraits to emerge from the woodwork show a wholesome, innocent-looking Kate posing for her very first sitting.

The gelatin prints were taken in 1988 – when Kate was just 14.

Photpgrapher David Ross said: ‘Kate was a cool character. She seemed like a tough or resilient typical teenager, comfortably fronting me up, perhaps covering up her nerves…

‘I suppose what was refreshing was that she was honest. She wasn’t trying to prove anything or act above her station. She didn’t try to adopt a model attitude of self-absorption and superiority, which at the time was becoming pulic via media sensation.

‘She was untarnished. A blank canvas, as other writers have put it.’

The images go up for sale at Bloomsbury auction house on November 23rd and are expected to fetch £800-£1200 each.

They come at the perfect time as Kate has been on a media campaign to promote her new book Kate: The Kate Moss Book.

She will be signing copies at Marc Jacobs’ bookstore – Bookmarc – in Mayfair on November 15th between 5pm-7pm.

Rihanna & Kate Moss as you’ve never seen them for V Magazine

Uh-oh, Rihanna’s been a Bad Girl.

In between rocking on stage for Victoria’s Secret, the singer has managed to leak some very sexy stills of her shoot with Kate Moss by Mario Testino for V Magazine on her Instagram page.

The issue won’t be out until March 2013.

Oops.

While bosses at the mag aren’t too pleased, Ff is delighted.

It’s hard to think of a more powerful duo in the industry right now and the images… well, they speak for themselves don’t you think?

We can’t wait to see the rest…

Sex, drugs and Johnny Depp: Kate Moss covers Vanity Fair, opens up about nervous breakdown

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

Despite the headlines, the drama and the scandals, it is rare to get any real glimpse into the extraordinary world of Kate Moss.

Eschewing interviews, many have never even heard her voice.

So it’s fascinating to see the supermodel open up for the December issue of Vanity Fair… and admit to body hang-ups, tears and insecurities…

Kate on the 1992 Calvin Klein shoot that propelled her to fame : ‘I had a nervous breakdown when I was 17 or 18, when I had to go and work with Marky Mark and Herb Ritts. It didn’t feel like me at all.

‘I felt really bad about straddling this buff guy. I didn’t like it. I couldn’t get out of bed for two weeks. I thought I was going to die.

‘It was just anxiety. Nobody takes care of you mentally. There’s a massive pressure to do what you have to do. I was really little, and I was going to work with (photographer) Steven Meisel.’

On nudity: ‘I’d lock myself in the toilet and cry and then come out and do it. I never felt very comfortable about it. There’s a lot of boobs. I hated my boobs! Because I was flat-chested. And I had a big mole on one.’

On Johnny Depp: ’There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. And that’s what I missed when I left. I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust. Nightmare. Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!’

On ‘heroin chic’: ‘I had never even taken heroin—it was nothing to do with me at all. I was thin, but that’s because I was doing shows, working really hard. At that time, I was staying at a B and B in Milan, and you’d get home from work and there was no food. You’d get to work in the morning, there was no food.

‘Nobody took you out for lunch when I started. Carla Bruni took me out for lunch once. She was really nice. Otherwise, you don’t get fed. But I was never anorexic. They knew it wasn’t true—otherwise I wouldn’t be able to work.’

On being a style icon: ‘I just wear black jeans now. Or gray. If you do a different look every day, they’re going to be waiting for the next look, and then it’s a paparazzi shot. Whereas if you just wear the same thing, then they get bored and leave you alone.’

On settling down: ‘I don’t really go to clubs anymore. I’m actually quite settled. Living in Highgate with my dog and my husband and my daughter! I’m not a hell-raiser. But don’t burst the bubble. Behind closed doors, for sure I’m a hell-raiser.’

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude | 1 Comment

The limited edition mag, unveiled to coincide with Paris Fashion Week will only be on sale at Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London, Corso Comoand Armani in Milan and Tsutaya Daikayama in Tokyo.

The official issue, featuring actor Garrett Hedlund on the front, is out Thursday March 15.

Good Kate gone bad: Moss, like you’ve never seen her for W mag

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

Kate wears a Jil Sander cotton dress, Ashley Lloyd headpiece and Cornelia James gloves

What is it with Kate Moss?

The fascinating model turned 38 recently and still shows no signs of packing it all in and moving to The Cotswolds permanently.

Why? Because we just can’t get enough of her.

Is she good? Is she bad? Will Self attempts to address the enigmatic Kate question for W magazine.

Moss graces the cover of the March edition looking holier-than-thou in lace and a habit. (She’s also doing the bleached eyebrow thing – not strictly relevant but just saying)

For her ‘dark side’, Kate looks pretty evil holding a Cricifix in a (dare-we-say-it) Exorcist-like fashion.

Kate wears Kate Moss wears a Vera Wang silk lace dress and Erdem habit

Her are some quotes from Will Self’s piece.

On Kate ageing: ‘Moss has aged and continues to age—not gracefully, for she’s a suburban hellion from the outer limits of Cockneydom, but beguilingly.’

On her bone structure: ‘Well, what to do but wax poetic about that perfect geometry: Moss’s mouth no rosebud but a crushed carnation, her cheekbones somehow performing the alien accomplishment of curving down to below its petals.’

On her duality: ‘Dark Moss and Light Moss. Bad Kate and Good Little Katie—simple dichotomizing is not what this dyad deserves’

On her legacy: ‘She remains like a great silent-screen heroine who’s animated and reanimated and then reanimated again by the fizzing jolt of the klieg.’

Well, quite.

Lara Stone & Kate Moss model for Love magazine, look like sisters

Meow! Lara Stone & Kate Moss for Love magazine

Last time Lara Stone and Kate Moss got together, they were naked.

We’re talking about the Pirelli Calendar, obviously…(what did you think we meant?!)

This time, they are fully clothed, but equally hot, in a preview released from Love magazine’s ‘after-taste’ issue, shot by Mario Testino.

Golden hair, high cheekbones, freckles..were these two models separated at birth?!

Of course not..there’s a TEN year age gap…

We are loving the cat/bunny ears (festival trend alert) and Lara’s wedding ring…
