Now that is one sweet bride… Enter the McQueen-inspired gummy bear wedding dress made from 50,000 sweets

Posted on by D in Artfreude, Fashion News, Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

Some inventive stylists with an insanely sweet tooth (or perhaps not, or they wouldn’t have been left with the 50,000 sweets they needed) at new mag TWELV have created an incredible McQueen-inspired wedding dress entirely of gummy bears.

They made it by sticking each individual rainbow gummy bear on to a piece of vinyl sheeting, and the end result was so damn heavy (220lbs to be exact) that it took three people to lift it at the shoot… We don’t pity the colt-legged model who they staggered over to drape it on (see, modelling really IS hard work!) — unless she got to nibble at it afterwards, of course.

It is the work of Issa Igarashi and Sayuri Marakumi. Guys, we are seriously impressed.

Now what did you do with the leftovers? Nom nom nom.

Roksanda Ilincic: Summer occasion dressing nailed

Posted on by D in Fashion News, Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

It’s Royal Ascot time, and we’re off to the races! But what to wear? Matches delivered, as ever with the goods. An hour surrounded by a swarm of enthusiastic stylists, two floors of ‘I NEED THAT’ sort of dresses and accessories and prosecco on tap (lethal) and the job was done. The winner? Roksanda Ilincic’s colour blocking Remy dress. The stylists said it simply had to be worn with Alexander McQueen’s phenomenal freshwater pearl statement necklace, the matching Alexander McQueen clutch, and an architectural hat. The dress I can justify… but I’m still battling with my conscience over the accessories… I will post the finished result on the day.

Long live McQueen! Getting in the Jubilee spirit with Alexander McQueen’s Union flag clutch

Tear down the plastic bunting, hang up the novelty hats. We’ve found the only Jubilee accessory worth investing in this season – and it comes courtesy of another (Mc)Queen.

From one (Mc)Queen to another: The Alexander McQueen flag bag in honour of the Diamond Jubilee

The studded Union flag clutch is a Royalist’s fantasty, and comes in ostentatious full red, white and blue, or oh-so-subtle silver.

We’d usually go for the stylish subtlety of the silver – but given that it’s Lizzie’s big day, let’s rock the red, white and blue for our Queenie.

Both are available for the absolute snip of a price, £1,249 for the red, white and blue, and £1,139 for the silver… OK, maybe we made the ‘snip’ bit up…

Collector’s edition: Topless Kate Moss on the cover of Another Man

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude | 1 Comment

While most men’s fashion magazines put a male model or film star on their cover, Another Man has come up with the genius idea of giving Kate Moss’s breasts a starring role – and with a chest like that, who can blame them?

Kate brings it on – again – for the stylish shot, ‘wearing’ specially commissioned Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton.

The limited edition mag, unveiled to coincide with Paris Fashion Week will only be on sale at Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London, Corso Comoand Armani in Milan and Tsutaya Daikayama in Tokyo.

The official issue, featuring actor Garrett Hedlund on the front, is out Thursday March 15.

Oscars 2012: Jessica Chastain wears McQueen, is Twitter’s favourite

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

You can’t argue with Twitter. It’s the law. And the good users have decreed Jessica Chastain best-dressed of the night.

We agree, Jessica’s frock has all the drama of an Oscars dress and Sarah Burton’s workmanship is second-to-none. But is it just us or does the gown wear her just a little bit?

Either way, an unusually brave choice for the Tree of Life star, bravo for being adventurous!

Do you like Jess’s dress?

Hot mama: Beyonce shows off her post-pregnancy bod

Your body's too bootlicious for ya baby!

Remember that weird story going around that Beyonce was never actually pregnant?

Well one month after giving birth to baby Blue Ivy, the new mother is out and about looking pretty damn hot.

Wearing a Temperley dress, Louboutins and an Alexander McQueen clutch (loving the Brit shout outs) Beyonce did nothing to dispell the crazy rumours.

Just where did she put that bey-be?

Maybe she is wearing like five pairs of Spanx, but we do that on a regular night out and still don’t look this good.

No, we’re not jealous. Much.

Long live McQueen! New SS12 campaign pictures are a work of art

Posted on by M in Fashionfreude | Leave a comment

Hot off the press Twitter! Alexander McQueen has just unveiled new campaign images for Spring Summer 2012.

We thought we were bored and jaded after the hundredth or so campaign image of the season.

And then along comes Sarah Burton and Co to breath new life into our tired old love affair.

The model is 18-year-old Zuzanna Bijoch, who is wonderfully shot by David Sims and the result is a work of art.

Don’t you love it?

Oh and before we speak to soon, we are also crushing hard on Candice Swanepoel for Prabal Gurung. The model turned brunette for the campaign. Sexual.

Lady in black: The Duchess of Cambridge at The Sun Military Awards

Ff just can’t get enough of the Duchess of Cambridge.

The glossy locks, the polished perfection, the pregnancy rumours…Even a trip to Waitrose provides endless fascination.

Last night, Kate wore a stunning velvet gown by Alexander McQueen to the Sun Military Awards.

The dress was offset with some serious bling – and she looked simply stunning.

Some critics have labeled her fashion sense ‘boring’ but Kate’s signature style has turned her into a role model for lady-like chic.

And we salute her!
