Work out in style, because we always need a good excuse to go to the gym

Posted on by F in Fashionfreude, Street Style | Leave a comment

Jumpers aren’t they only way to be fashionably festive right now.

You can also make a celebratory statement with a pair of super cool limited edition Nike Pro Oslo Glow Printed Women’s Tights.

We can think of nothing more motivating than a cute outfit but in case you need more, the leggings combine hi-tech performance features with a Scandinavian-inspired digital print.

Or you could skip the workout and wear them to lunch with a chunky knit instead…

Just do it, yaaar.

Wear paired with a smart tailored coat…

Picture perfect: Olivia Palermo shares her tips on how to pose for the camera (…and she should know!)

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude, Street Style | Leave a comment

When we saw Olivia Palermo’s latest blog post entitled ‘Perfect Your Picture Pose’, we got super excited!

Ten tips on how to look like the queen of street style?! Oh GOODY!

And then we read them….

1. Start out in front of the mirror.  Try different angles, poses, etc. to find your best “side.”

2. Pose in different lights and spaces to discover what works best for your complexion.

3. Find your natural smile.  Don’t force it.  If you’re cheeks start to hurt, it’s too much.

4. Wear your most flattering colors – keep in mind that what looks best in person might not look best on film.

5. Backlighting is better than overhead lighting.  Overhead lighting causes excessive brightness as well as unflattering shadows.

6. Stance counts.  Stand at a 45 degree angle as opposed to facing the camera directly.  Put one foot slightly in front of your body but keep the weight on the back foot.  Try different “hand on hip” stances.

Anybody else exhausted yet? No wonder she always looks so good…

Frankly we can’t be bothered to read past tip no6…We prefer to just keep deleting pictures until we get the right one – isn’t that the point of a digital camera?

For those with more stamina, you can see the rest of the tips on Olivia’s blog here

Good luck!

Royal Ascot 2012: Hats off to the Queen!

Posted on by D in Fashion News, Fashionfreude, Street Style | Leave a comment

Ascot came and went in a blur of hooves and hats… New friends were won, last month’s salary was lost. The hats were spectacular, with Philip Treacy, Steven Jones and the brilliant Jane Taylor dressing more heads than I could count… here’s the pick of the pics from the best fashion show race meet of the calendar.

Gawd bless her! Queenie and her family looked utterly spiffing

Gawd bless her! Queenie and her family looked utterly spiffing – thank you to the dodgy security guards for letting us get this in-yer-face snap. Queen: Mint green Stewart Parvin, Launer bag. Beatrice: Cream and red lace Erdem – one of her best looks to date

Natalie Portman: Le trench, c’est chic

Natalie Portman: Trenchtown rock

Natalie Portman: Trenchtown rock

Natalie Portman’s Paris look. Tres chic, non? It’s classic Hepburn-esque street style. None of it is groundbreaking, or edgy -but its charm is in its simplicity. The hair is the coup de grace, in our mind. And those cheekbones. You could grate Parmesan on them. Nous adorons.

Pippa Middleton in ‘less glam than usual’ shocker

Posted on by D in Fashion News, Fashionfreude, Street Style | Leave a comment

So the Huff Po has pointed out that Pippa Middleton, spotted out running errands yesterday, wasn’t looking as chic as she does usually. Personally, we’re not as Pippa obsessed as most out there – many of Pippa’s preppy outfits leave us cold – but we’ve gotta agree with the Huff. It is a bit frumpton. What do you think?

Hot mama: Beyonce shows off her post-pregnancy bod

Your body's too bootlicious for ya baby!

Remember that weird story going around that Beyonce was never actually pregnant?

Well one month after giving birth to baby Blue Ivy, the new mother is out and about looking pretty damn hot.

Wearing a Temperley dress, Louboutins and an Alexander McQueen clutch (loving the Brit shout outs) Beyonce did nothing to dispell the crazy rumours.

Just where did she put that bey-be?

Maybe she is wearing like five pairs of Spanx, but we do that on a regular night out and still don’t look this good.

No, we’re not jealous. Much.

SJP wraps up in NYC

Posted on by D in Fashion News, Fashionfreude, Street Style | Leave a comment

It’s sub-zero and snowing in New York (we know this because Diane Von Furstenburg said so) – but Sarah Jessica Parker nonetheless braved the winter chill  - and damn, the wind that whistles through NYC is icy – to pick her kid up from school yesterday.

Things we love about this photo:

  1. The fact that SJP faced the Arctic conditions to pick her daughter up herself. Ff would have sent the nanny.
  2. SJP’s hat + honeyed highlighted hair look. Expensive yet insouciant at the same time. Skilful work.
  3. Her little girl’s (suspected Burberry) coat. Tres chic for a toddler.
  4. The fact she’s nicked Matthew Broderick’s jeans. He doesn’t deserve them, the rat.
  5. Her Chanel bag. Want one.

Rachel Zoe never has to hail a cab

This is how Rachel Zoe rolls

This is how Rachel Zoe rolls

There are taxis. There are chauffeur-driven cars. And then there are Chanelmobiles. The latter is how Rachel Zoe rolls.

She has just got back from hols in St Barts where she lounged around in the sunshine with Marc Jacobs, and no sooner does she get back to the U.S., Karl sends a car to pick her up. This woman is seriously connected.

Where did it take her is what Ff wants to know. And also, can she take us
next time?
