Kate Bosworth gets her sing on for Topshop’s Christmas campaign

Topshop has hired actress Kate Bosworth as the face of their new Christmas campaign.

In the video directed by her fiance Michael Polish, Kate re-enacts the famous piano scene from The Fabulous Baker Boys starring Michelle Pfeiffer.

While her voice isn’t likely to win any awards, we think she looks pretty darn hot and love the sultry rendition of Winter Wonderland, available to download on iTunes.

The sequin dress was designed by Kate in collaboration with the High Street chain and will be available to buy early next year.

Kate said: ‘This project brings together two important aspects of my life: cinema and fashion.

‘I have always been a fan of the Topshop brand and it has been an honour to work with Sir Phillip and the team. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we did making it.’

OMG! It’s another Vogue documentary starring Anna Wintour

After the success of The September Issue, it seems Vogue can’t get enough of opening their doors to the outside world.

‘In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye’ premieres on December 6th in the U.S and follows the mag’s fashion editors around the Conde Nast offices as well as on location.

Quel excitement!

Vogue describes the HBO film as: ‘highlighting the visual and historical contribution editors past and present (including Polly Allen Mellen, Grace Coddington, and Camilla Nickerson) have made not only to the magazine, but also to the world of fashion itself.’

We really can’t wait.

Time for some Bond Girl action: Berenice Marlohe is the new face of Omega

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude, Filmfreude | Leave a comment

While Skyfall wasn’t our favourite 007 film (not enough girls, gadgets or gags in our opinion), we thought Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe stole the show with her sexy- albeit brief – performance as damsel in distress Severine.

So it’s no wonder Omega tapped the French actress as the face of their new campaign.

Though we suspect any man who lays eyes on her will suddenly have very little regard for the time…

Whatchuthink?

London is being spoilt for choice with fashion exhibitions galore over the Christmas period.

After Chanel’s Little Black Jacket at the Saatchi Gallery and Hollywood Costume at the V&A, we didn’t think we could get more excited.

How wrong we were.

A major new exhibition celebrating the life and work of Valentino will showcase over 130 (!) haute couture designs worn by Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Gwyneth Paltrow, to name a few, in an installation created for Somerset House.

We can’t wait!

There will also be a series of talks and events to accompany the exhibition, including a screening of Valentino: The Last Emperor, following the iconic designer and his long-time associate Giancarlo Giammetti between parties, catwalk shows, exhibition openings and dressmaking sessions

Check it out!

On a sidenote how adorable are the pugs in the promotional shots? Kind of stealing Vman’s thunder, wethinks…

The voice of a new generation: HBO show ‘Girls’ finally hits the UK

Posted on by M in Fashionfreude, Filmfreude | Leave a comment

The end of Sex and the City left a deep void in our hearts that has yet to be filled.

So Ff was uber excited to hear about new HBO show Girls, following the lives of four 20-somethings Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna, living in Manhattan.

Already a smash hit across the pond, the first episode premiered last night on Sky Atlantic and didn’t fail to disappoint.

It seems, so far, to be a strippped-down no-frills version of SATC- all the issues and none of the shoes – but nonetheless befitting of the post-economic downturn world we now inhabit.

It may not be pretty to look at, but it’s hilarious to watch.

The episode starts off with main character Hannah (Lena Dunham), an unpaid intern and aspiring writer, being cut off by her parents.

While some of it is raw and at times almost sad – Hannah’s utter desperation to please her obviously uninterested ‘sex friend’ is cringeworthy – a lot of it will bring back (perhaps unwanted) memories of your early 20s. (Sorry).

Ff’s favourite quotes so far:

Gynecologist to Hannah: ‘You couldn’t pay me enough to be 24 again.’ Hannah:  ’Well, they’re not paying me at all.’

Marnie: He’s like so busy respecting me you know that he looks right past me and everything that I need from him.’

Ray’s date (refusing food): ‘I didn’t mean to be rude. I’m just not really that into eating this week.’

Shoshanna to Jessa: ‘You’re so hip I could puke. I can never pull off a hat, how do you pull off a hat? Your skin is like hauntingly beautiful.’

Hannah (worried after having protected sex): ‘But what about the stuff that gets up around the sides of condoms?’

Girls, Mondays, 10pm, Sky Atlantic

Ryan Gosling, age 9, in Mormon talent contest = priceless

Ryan Gosling: Mormon talent show, age 9, three years before joining the MIckey Mouse Club. Still believe he's as cool as his Drive character?

Ryan Gosling: Mormon talent show, age 9, three years before joining the Mickey Mouse Club. Still believe he's as cool as his Drive character? Bless!

Ryan: I like the way you moooove

Ryan: I like the way you moooove

Ahhh, Ryan Gosling wasn’t always the cool, brooding type we know and love today.
When he was a mere sapling of a boy, age 9, he entered a Mormon talent contest (his mother and father were Mormon, though he considers himself ‘non-denominational’) with a song and dance act that has to be seen to be believed.

Cringe as he sings his cheesy opening song… then cheer as he snaps into a nutty dance routine that would make MC Hammer blush.

Watch and wonder (and marvel at how his jacket is remarkably similar to the one he wears in Drive, yet his veneer of brooding cool so many, many years away).

Carbs found her! Betty Draper piles on the pounds in Mad Men

Ff has been on the edge of its seat in anticipation of the new series of Mad Men.

And while we were glued to our sofa’s during last week’s premiere, we couldn’t help but feel disappointed that Betty Draper was nowhere to be seen.

But last night’s episode more than made up for it! Oh yes, it did.

Bettty graced our screens like never before…larger than life – literally – Betty has done the unthinkable.

She has become FAT.

The suburban housewife, who was once the picture of polished perfection, tucked into a packet of crisps, made her husband turn around while she got out of the bath and even refused to go out when she couldn’t do up her dress.

Oh, the satisfaction!

And like Monica from Friends in a fat suit, we think we actually prefers Betty’s carbaholic personality.

Our favourite part? When she stuffed her ice cream Sunday down her throat and then moved on to her daughter’s…

Love. Her.

She even has a Twitter account named after her!

Keira Knightley: Dark art

Keira Knightley like you’ve never seen her before… and rarely heard her. The 27-year-old, who’s dating Klaxons star James Righton, has been snapped by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in a dramatic shoot for Interview magazine – and talks in an accompanying chat about rehearsing her sex face.

Keira Knightley like you've never seen her before

During the interview, Keira recalls some rather kinky scenes she was forced to endure for her latest project A Dangerous Method, directed by controversial filmmaker David Cronenberg
.

Talking about getting into character for the role she plays in David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, she said: ‘I sat in my bathroom and pulled faces at myself for two days. Then I got on Skype with David and went “I’ve come up with this” or “I’ve come up with that” and he went, “That one!”‘

It’s just another of those ‘What did we do before Skype?’ moments…

‘I’m a sales slut’: Claire Danes covers Asos, loves a bargain

Posted on by M in Fashion News, Fashionfreude, Filmfreude | Leave a comment

Claire Danes is a woman after our own hearts…and we didn’t really know it until we thought about it.

Let us count the ways.

First, she starred in My So-Called life, which was the best TV show, ever, ever.

Second, she played Juliet in Romeo & Juliet which basically put Shakespeare on the map. Ok, not really. But it put Baz Luhrmann on the map.

Then she kind of disappeared and we thought she was a 90′s-hit-wonder.

But now she Claire is kicking ass in new series Homeland and we are majorly OBSESSED.

The 32-year-old starred in a shoot for Asos magazine and we dig it. In the interview, she talked Towie (she’s a fan), Homeland and lazy sense of style…

Claire on fashion: ‘I’m a sales slut.  I’m just very seduced by a sale.  In New York buying clothes is fun, because it really is boutiquey.  I like Legacy and Opening Ceremony, and I love Prada.  I have a lot of J Brand and Citizens of Humanity jeans.  It’s funny with jeans now, because if they don’t feel like a pair of sweatpants, I don’t have patience for them anymore!  I think I’m becoming increasingly lazy.’

Claire on Homeland: ‘It was a leap of faith for all of us.  We only had the faintest sense of where the writers were going to take the story, and I think they were discovering it themselves as they went along, which is one of the reasons television can be so exciting.  But it’s always just such a relief when a story that you care about and a character that you’ve worked so terribly hard to create manages to translate.’

And finally, Claire on My So-Called life: ‘I was 13 when I did the pilot and I was inexperienced.  I knew that the show was special though – it was so fresh, even kind of revolutionary.  Devon Gummersall (Brian Krakow) and Devon Odessa (Sharon Cherski) are dear friends of mine.  If I’m in LA, I still have Thanksgiving with Bess Armstrong who played my mother.  We’re all really, very close.  Those gigs don’t happen very often.’

We just have one question Claire, what about Jordan Catalano, aka Jared Leto, aka Ff’s first ever crush?
