Worst kept secret ‘Barts’

Posted on by F in Foodfreude | Leave a comment

Hidden away in Chelsea Cloisters this members only bar’s entrance is through an old fashioned apartment with Disney wallpaper. To gain entrance you have to ring a buzzer before the bartender decides on whether you are worthy enough to be let in (fortunately ff didn’t have a problem with that – phew). Pre NYE probably isn’t the best time to visit, the bar was super quiet which probably isn’t that unusual for a SUNDAY  day of rest after all, still …

Posted on by F in Foodfreude | Leave a comment

After our post Christmas sales shopping workout, flitting from shop to shop in Knightsbridge ff decide its time to give their tired, exhausted bodies a rest and indulge in some much deserved food at the Brompton Bar & Grill. A short walk from Harrods, this fairy lit venue is the perfect location for tired shoppers to re-charge and re-fuel after a busy day. Brompton Bar & Grill is the baby of Chef Francois O’Neill and replaces the space where Brasserie …

Jumpers aren’t they only way to be fashionably festive right now. You can also make a celebratory statement with a pair of super cool limited edition Nike Pro Oslo Glow Printed Women’s Tights. We can think of nothing more motivating than a cute outfit but in case you need more, the leggings combine hi-tech performance features with a Scandinavian-inspired digital print. Or you could skip the workout and wear them to lunch with a chunky knit instead… Just do it, …

Calling all carnivores! MASH steakhouse hits London town

Posted on by F in Foodfreude | Leave a comment

Never ones to miss an opportunity to sample a good steak, we were thrilled to hear that Denmark’s export MASH (Modern American Steak House) is now residing in the building formerly occupied by Titanic restaurant (and if you can remember a decade back, the former home to the Atlantic Bar and Grill *admitting our age*). The London chain is the first outside of Denmark and is also the largest MASH steak restaurant to date with 300 covers and a separate …

A Royale Aperitivo: We get our drink on (and get a little shaken and quite stirred)

With Christmas fast approaching, the drinking party season is ON. Last night we braved the freezing London rain and headed to Brick Lane for a Martini party at cute off-the-wall venue Back in 5 Minutes. The private room and restaurant – a newish venture from the team who launched ‘the disappearing dining club’- is hidden behind designer boutique Ante and provides the perfect cosy haven away from the plummeting temperatures. Kudos to Martini for booking the spot – we felt …

Booze has been replaced by chocolate this week. Cafe-restaurant The Delaunay provided the goods, see for yourself.  Nuff said. PS Another visit is on the cards; hopefully we won’t get so distracted by the dessert table and will have other food too. Rekindling our love affair with Nobbly Bobbly

Posted on by F in Foodfreude | Leave a comment

Today we return to one of our first summer loves: the humble ice cream treat by Nestlé known as the Nobbly Bobbly. Chocolate and strawberry ice-cream, smothered in chocolate and hundreds and thousands, they keep the mind off the cocktails – and that’s no mean feat.

Some of ff have been going a little crazy and over indulging in yummy cocktails all over London these past few months – research for the job of course…So for the sake of our achy bodies we have decided that for a short period (let’s say up to a week) we will be retiring from the delicious juice and sticking to aqua in the meantime. But, before we do that, here’s another great find we discovered on one of recent crawls: The …

Shi*faced @ Tramshed

The new venture from Mark Hix in East London serves chicken and steak (although the menu says it does cater for veggies and pescatarians) and that’s pretty much it – apart from potent cocktails and good puds. Relaxed vibe and communal tables make for a pretty chilled evening, and hidden in the back is a cosy bar – the perfect place to start your night out, given that it serves cocktails such as the aptly named ‘shipfaced’, ditch that bitch …

Cocktails and champagne at the world famous American Bar at the Savoy

Posted on by F in Foodfreude | Leave a comment

Recently named World’s Best Hotel Bar at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards, we paid the American Bar a long overdue visit. After all, we hadn’t been back since it was refurbished few years back. Pleased to report the bar didn’t disappoint and continues to evoke its inspiring atmosphere of timeless elegance. We started our liquid dinner with White Lady and Cuprum Cocktail 29. After our cocktail starter we moved on to our main course of champagne. Several glasses …
