Leave Lady Gaga alone

So Lady Gaga has put on a bit of weight. Look, the girl has been battling bulimia and anorexia her entire adult life – shouldn’t that be a clear effing reason NEVER to post unflattering pictures of her from behind accompanied by cruel captions and pictures charting the growth of her bottom?

Gaga’s entire philosophy is based around self acceptance, whatever your size, shape, colour or creed – and apart from the smoking weed on stage (I’m no prude; I just think you should save that shit for the over-18s, and the majority of her fans are 10 years out), she tries hard to be a positive role model.

The constant flood of cellulite/bulge battling/fat roll stories about women in the public eye is not new, but it is growing out of control. When did it become okay to point out someone’s weight issues – especially knowing they suffer from eating disorders? We should apply the same rules to discussing the bodies of famous people in print as we would the non-famous… and believe me, if you pointed out the cellulite of the average woman in the street, you’d get a slap.
