It may be the season for fashionable fillies, fascinators and tails but next winter, Gucci is bringing riding to the catwalk. (Horse optional).
Creative Director Frida Giannini has designed a complete capsule collection for women inspired by the exclusive wardrobe she created for Edwina Alexander, the world’s current number one female jumper.
The line is part of the Cruise 2013 collection and includes a ready-to-wear assortment of 15 styles, completed by a selection of accessories.
The clothing range comprises riding jackets and trousers, shirts and polo tees.
And for those who are sick of Uggs and over Hunter wellies, Gucci has created a riding boot in plain leather embellished with the Gucci crest detail.
For the loaded spendthrifts serious rider, a new saddle has been handcrafted in black Guccissima leather. Seriously, it’s true.
Complementing the line is a black velvet covered riding cap with riding whip (we can think of several uses for these – ahem), both a saddle blanket and horse blanket (for the living room, perhaps?), a black leather belt with the Gucci web stripe and silver buckle and black nappa gloves.
If you can’t be bothered for all that, there’s also a silk foulard illustrated with whip motifs that will convey the whole thing without looking like you’ve tried too hard.
Hermes, eat your heart out (but we still love you, too!).
And we’re off! To buy the whole collection…in November (when it comes out out online and in stores).
